I was formerly a commercial fisherman in Alaska before returning to university and obtaining a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Health (Environmental Chemistry) at the University of Nevada Reno. I worked with bioremediation of ARD and heavy metals at a Superfund site in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. I also used molecular techniques to track the microbial communities in our bioreactor as we changed carbon sources, to see how the community was reacting and how long it took to stabilize. I graduated in December 2007.
I now work with a non-profit technical consulting company, Center for Science in Public Participation (CSP2). I am located in Sutton, Alaska, about an hour east of Anchorage. I help communities and tribes interpret technical documents and literature provided by mining companies interested in developing mines so communities are fully informed of potential risks.
I am interested in ARD, biogeochemistry, metal leaching, and anything redox related.
I don't know anything about modeling.
I am trying to learn about coal, which is a whole new field for me but of great interest in Alaska.
Look forward to connecting with people in the forum.
